RHCD 0, Gordon 5
Rocky Hill B Team had their first match of the season against the Gordon School B team on Tuesday. This was the very first soccer game ever for many of our players and a HUGE congratulations goes out to them! Despite a late arrival, limited warm up, and a shortened game, our Mariners played hard. The first few minutes of the game were played in our defensive third, allowing Gordon to score 4 goals. To their credit, the players showed great resilience and continued to give the game their all.
A mid-game injury (Luke Lehoullier fractured his wrist) didn’t break our spirit either. The second half of the game we looked and played like a different team. Our defensive players found their zones, midfielders had some amazing passes and footwork and we had a few breakaways that almost resulted in some goals. Despite a 5-0 defeat, the players demonstrated great sportsmanship, showed application of the skills we practiced all week, and have a better understanding of how the game is played. We are ready to take on Wheeler next Tuesday 9/24 at 4:15!

“We played tough today,” said Coach Zimmer, “but just needed to finish a couple more shots.”
