10/16/19 – MS B Soccer v WBCA

MS B Soccer Wraps up the Season Against WBCA

The MS Soccer B team finished the season strong. We showed exceptional growth and resilience throughout the season. Our opponent, WBCA A team, was incredibly skilled, but with a little help from our A team players, Naseem Ankoma, BJ Kerachsky, Ryan Samponaro, and Jacob Joly, we managed to offer some heavy competition! An equal amount of time was spent in both defensive and offensive plays, working the entire team! We had several impressive shots against the opponent from Ryan Samonaro, Kian Garcia and Henry Chartrand and some incredible saves from Goalie, Boden Dair.

Amazingly, we were able to hold them to only 5 goals. We walked off the field with our heads held high and excitement in the air. This has been a great season and we are all pumped for the 2020 season!

10/8/19 – MS B Soccer v Pennfield

MS B Soccer Shows Strength in Loss to Pennfield

RHCD 3, Pennfield 6
Kian Garcia – MVP (3 goals)

The MS B team soccer had an amazing game on Tuesday against Pennfield. The entire team is playing well together; their communication and passing has been greatly improved. We stayed competitive throughout both halves and put a lot of pressure on the other team. MVP goes to Kian Garcia for his three goals– the first three of the season, in fact! The third goal was scored on a corner kick, where our Mariners perfectly executed the technique we drilled the day before during practice! We were tied at 3-3 for a long stretch, but Pennfield got a few lucky goals in the last quarter of the game. Final score was 6-3, but the pride our players, coaches and parents felt for the hard work was palpable. Our next and final game against WBCA is on Wednesday 10/16 at 4:15. Come out and cheer us the team on in their first win of the season!

9/27/19 – MS B Soccer v Cole MS

MS Soccer B has strong showing against local foe

RHCD 0, Cole 4
Kian Garcia = “Best game of entire life”

The Middle School B team had an amazing showing on the field on Friday for Blue and White Night. The competition that Cole Middle School brought was stiff, but our Mariners were up for the challenge! With a little help from sixth graders, Naseem Ankoma, Jacob Lax and Ryan Sampanaro, the team was able to keep the ball on the opposing side of the field for the majority of the game. We had great positioning throughout both halves, and Goalie Boden Dair had an unbelievable amount of saves.

Kian Garcia happily admitted that he played “the best game of [his] entire life” All in all, the 4-0 defeat against the Cole Middle School team doesn’t represent our progress or our spirit. Onward to a win for next week against Pennfield on Tuesday 10/8 at 4:15!

9/24/19 – MS B Soccer v Wheeler Boys C

RHCD 0, Wheeler C 8
Brooke Bradley – Great chance for a breakaway goal!

In a match with Wheeler on Tuesday, the Middle School B team was able to showcase the skills that they have acquired since their last game. With our increased ball handling, footwork and confidence we were able to get more time on the ball. Although the majority of the game was spent in our defensive third, we almost scored several times. During a fantastic breakaway, right Forward, Brooke Bradley, sprinted down the field and dodged several defenders. She planted her foot and kicked with her left (a skill we have be honing all week). Unfortunately it went a bit wide but the crowd and team both cheered excitedly. In a flurry of fast footwork, Midfielders Izzy Rishworth and Kian Garcia also had impressive shots on goal. All of the athletes are playing well and have shown great progress. Our 8-0 defeat against this tough team has not dimmed our spirits and we are ready to take on Cole Middle School at 5pm on Friday!

9/17/19 – MS B Soccer @ Gordon

RHCD 0, Gordon 5

Rocky Hill B Team had their first match of the season against the Gordon School B team on Tuesday. This was the very first soccer game ever for many of our players and a HUGE congratulations goes out to them! Despite a late arrival, limited warm up, and a shortened game, our Mariners played hard. The first few minutes of the game were played in our defensive third, allowing Gordon to score 4 goals. To their credit, the players showed great resilience and continued to give the game their all.

A mid-game injury (Luke Lehoullier fractured his wrist) didn’t break our spirit either. The second half of the game we looked and played like a different team. Our defensive players found their zones, midfielders had some amazing passes and footwork and we had a few breakaways that almost resulted in some goals. Despite a 5-0 defeat, the players demonstrated great sportsmanship, showed application of the skills we practiced all week, and have a better understanding of how the game is played. We are ready to take on Wheeler next Tuesday 9/24 at 4:15!

In an old-fashioned shoot-out, MS Soccer B was tested in their match against Segue.  Dropping behind two quick scores, Rocky Hill was able to tie the score at 2-2 early in the second half, but was ultimately unable to keep up their momentum.  Team captains Will Hogan and Skye Connell played tough in the middle with support from their defenders Elyse Beland and Isabella Rishworth.

“We played tough today,” said Coach Zimmer, “but just needed to finish a couple more shots.”

The team returns to action next Wednesday, October 10.

Middle School Soccer B Falls in Close Contest with Wheeler

  • Coach Jared Zimmer takes the helm of MS Soccer B Team this fall, assisted by Coach Alex Champagne.
  • Boden Dair was key in goal for the team, keeping the match close.

“This was a great effort in our first game, as we continue to gel as a team.  I’m very pleased with all our players and am looking forward to a great season,” said Coach Zimmer.

The Middle School Soccer B team will get to enjoy a week of practice before returning to action vs. Segue on October 1.
