Middle School Field Hockey Drops Hard Fought Home Finale
- RHS 0, Cole 2
- Genevieve Bradley: 3 saves
Middle School Field Hockey team suited up for the last game of the season against Cole Middle School on Thursday. Donning their blue and white jerseys, the players lined up against a talented team and gave their friends and family members on the sidelines a great game to watch. Each and every member of the team rose above the level they had been playing at all season, impressing both their coaches and each other as they advanced down the field using effective passes, field positioning and exemplary free hits. In the team’s most aggressive defensive game yet, our players at the back of the field worked hard to stop Cole’s experienced offense. Rocky Hill ultimately fell to Cole 0-2, but the score tells nothing of how much time the ball spent in the midfield, and how much growth each of our players exhibited. Coaches Boss, Frost and Piccoli could not be more proud of this team and look forward to seeing our returning 7th, 6th, and 5th grade players next year!
Middle School Field Hockey Drops Game at Pine Point
- MSFH vs. Pine Point, 0-1 Loss
- Genevieve Bradley: 4 saves
The RHS Middle School Field Hockey Team’s trip to Pine Point in Stonington, CT proved an excellent challenge. Every member of the team stepped up to play their roles even more aggressively than usual. A scoreless first half left the Mariners ready to fight hard but a few veteran players were injured, which impacted the team’s performance. Fifth grader Sayuri Lakhkar and sixth grader Olivia Chatterly aggressively stepped in to support their teammates. The ball spent more time in the defensive zone during the second half, allowing Kristina Greim and Jillian Pogacar to show off their block tackles and their steadfastness, while Genevieve Bradley in goal proved an absolute force with a handful of saves and tenacity throughout the game. The match ended in a 1-0 loss, but the girls are looking forward to their final game against Cole Middle School next week.

Middle School Field Hockey Tops North Kingstown Again 2- 1
- Katie Kerachsky: 2 goals; Franny McCaughey: 1 assist; Sydney Boss: 1 assist
Genevieve Bradley: 5 saves
This week’s rematch against North Kingstown saw many levels of excitement for our Middle School Field Hockey team. The team’s first and only night game of the season got off to a rocky start as players adjusted to the shorter, faster game on turf. Without many shots on goal, the first half ended with Rocky Hill down 1-0. At half time, the team reviewed basics such as block tackles and push passes, then went back out on the field refocused and with fervor. Smarter playing allowed them to maintain possession and put quadruple the shots on goal. Katie Kerachsky was able to find the back of the goal twice, with assists by Franny McCaughey and Sydney Boss, putting RHS in the lead. A nail biting defensive corner at the buzzer was ended by Genevieve Bradley, whose goal-tending knowledge and experience helped her make five big saves to support her team in today’s win.
“What an exciting game for our team,” commented Coach Boss. “This showed great resilience and effort by our players tonight.”
The team returns to action at a tournament on Saturday.

Katie Kerachsky supported them and showed a new level of comfort in her role on offense, scoring two quick goals in the first half. Savannah Burnett was invaluable in her movement of the ball through the midfield, supported by a strong line of defense including Jillian Pogacar, who stood out for her aggression and smart playing. Middle School Field Hockey Victorious against Burrillville
- Four different Mariners contributed goals: Sydney Boss, Katie Kerachsky, Hannah Boss, and Orabel Piccoli (2).
Having been plagued by bad weather, this game marked the first chance for Rocky Hill Middle School Field Hockey to play a full match against a team with depth. Burrillville had a strong start, but was not able to hold against Rocky Hill relentlessness on offense. Only minutes into the game, Rocky Hill’s Sydney Boss scored the first goal. Her confidence in a variety of positions helped to support the following three RHS goals through assists to Katie Kerachsky and Orabel Piccoli. Thanks to a game-long push by Rocky Hill’s defense, goalie Genevieve Bradley barely saw the ball, and defender Hannah Boss was granted the opportunity advance far enough up the field to assist the fifth and final goal.
“Hopefully, this 5-0 win gives our team the momentum it needs going into the game against North Kingstown on Saturday!” said Coach Boss.
Next game is Saturday, October 13.

2nd Place Finish
RHS tied for 2nd with Lincoln (2-1-2 record); MB won overall. We ended up ahead of Wheeler, Gordon, and Friends. It was a GREAT showing and the two games we tied we completely dominated. Very good experience picking themselves up from a tough second game loss vs MB. The girls, coaches, lots of parents and grandparents represented RHS very well – we should all be super proud of our first showing at this “A” level tournament!!
A standout performance by Lily Kerachsky in earning her second hat trick of the season! The team did a wonderful job adjusting to the fast indoor surface, smaller field and fewer field players at WWIS!! Shout outs to Genevieve Bradley, Alexis Cote, Mariana Meyer and Gracie Eilberg for strong all around contributions towards the win! Lily Kerachsky 3g, Charlotte Boss 3a, Mariana Meyer 1g, Alexis Cote 1a.
