10/30/18 – Girls Varsity Field Hockey v Classical – State Quarterfinal

Mariners Defeat Classical, Move On To State Semifinals

  • RHS 3, Classical 2
  • Charlotte Boss 2g, 1a; Faythe Schulte 1g, 1a
  • Natalie Wilson successfully defended a stroke

Rocky Hill defeated Classical in the RIIL State Quarterfinal matchup.  Keeper Taylor Cote recorded 2 saves and Natalie Wilson recorded 4, including one penalty stroke.  All three Mariner goals were scored off penalty corners.  This victory keeps Rocky Hill alive in the playoffs, heading to LaSalle Academy to face Tollgate on Thursday!

10/25/18 – Girls’ Field Hockey v Woonsocket

Rocky Hill Scores Big on Senior Day

  • RHS 2, Woonsocket 0
  • Charlotte Boss, 1g, 1a; Chloe Ponte 1g; Elsa Block 1a

The Mariners pulled off a win in their senior game against conference opponents Woonsocket.  Honored before the game were seniors Bri Harter, Jaylene Lanzot, Chloe Ponte, and Faythe Schulte.  Both Rocky Hill keepers got in on the action, with Taylor Cote grabbing a save and Natalie Wilson collecting five.

 

10/23/18 – Girls’ Varsity Field Hockey @ Tollgate

Mariners Fall to Tollgate

  • RHS 1 , Toll Gate 2
  • Chloe Ponte scored the Rocky Hill goal.
    The Varsity Field Hockey Team played a resilient game against Toll Gate on 10/23 which ended in a 1-2 loss. Unfortunately, this hard-fought game broke the five consecutive wins. Goalkeeper Taylor Cote recorded a shutout and five saves, and Natalie Wilson recorded four saves.
    The Varsity Field Hockey Team will celebrate their senior players in a senior game at home on 10/25!

 

10/19/18 – Varsity Field Hockey v Pilgrim

Varsity Field Hockey Blanks Pilgrim

  • Mariners won 2-0 against Pilgrim, the highest ranking team in our division
  • Faythe Schulte 1 g; Charlotte Boss 1 g; 1 a

The Field Hockey Team won in a captivating game against Pilgrim with seven players putting shots on goal. Natalie Wilson recorded five saves in goal and a shutout. This game was the 5th consecutive win for RHS Varsity Field Hockey this season.

“Momentum is building!” said Coach Fairchild.  “Such a great game and full team effort.”

Rocky Hill travels to play Tollgate next Tuesday.

10/18/18 – Varsity Field Hockey v Tiverton

Rocky Hill Defeats Tiverton in Pink Game

  • RHS Varsity Field Hockey won against Tiverton 2-1
  • Faythe Schulte scored both goals, with an assist from Charlotte Boss on the second.
  • Goalkeeper Natalie Wilson recorded five saves.
The Mariners dominated possession in a home league match against Tiverton, ending with a 2-0 win that qualified Rocky Hill for the RIIL D3 Playoffs.  The game also was a fundraiser for the Play For More campaign.  The Pink Out fundraising event was a huge success thanks to the support from our community!
“It feels great to know we have qualified for post-season play,” said Coach Fairchild.  “The team is hitting their stride and we are excited to play again tomorrow.”
Field Hockey hosts Pilgrim tomorrow.

10/15/18 – Varsity Field Hockey v. Cranston East

Field Hockey Blanks Cranston East

  • 7-0 win over conference opponent Cranston East
  • Six Mariners recorded points: Chloe Ponte scored two goals, Eve Weiner scored one goal, Jordan Lanowy assisted one goal, Charlotte Boss scored three goals and assisted one goal, Marianna Meyer scored one goal, Taylor Cote assisted one goal
In a victorious game against Cranston East, the Varsity Field Hockey Team won 7-0! Goalkeepers Taylor Cote and Natalie Wilson both recorded zero saves and shutouts. Taylor Cote also made RHS Field Hockey history by playing in goal during the first half of the game and recording a shutout and then playing field during the second half and recording an assist. Charlotte Boss became the team’s leading goal scorer with overall 15 points.
“This was the first game of a long week of games, so I am pleased we came out so strong and so happy for Marianna to record the first goal of her career,” said Coach Fairchild.
Rocky Hill faces Tiverton at home on Thursday.

10/12/18 – Varsity Field Hockey vs. Cranston East

Full Team Effort Leads to Late Game Domination

  • RHS Field Hockey won against Cranston East, 5-0.
  • Eight players recorded points: Jordan Lanowy scored 2 goals, Charlotte Boss scored 1 goal, Sara Laurent scored 1 goal, Chloe Ponte scored 1 goal, Elsa Block assisted 2 goals, Sinead Burnett assisted 1 goal, Faythe Schulte assisted 1 goal, and Eve Weiner assisted 1 goal.
The Varsity Field Hockey Team won in an exciting game against Cranston East with over 20 shots on goal! Both RHS goalkeepers recorded shutouts: Taylor Cote with 4 saves and Natalie Wilson with 2 saves. Grace Starosciak also had her first defensive save of the season.
“What a win!  Sara Laurent earned the Anchor of the Game for playmaking and maxing assisted goals,” said Coach Fairchild.
The Mariners return to action on Monday, again versus Cranston East in a make-up game.

10/5/18 – Varsity Field Hockey vs. Classical

Varsity Field Hockey, Lanowy Let Loose on Classical

  •  The Mariners won 3 – 1.
  • Five players recorded points: Jordan Lanowy scored 2 goals, Charlotte Boss scored 1 goal, Faythe Schulte assisted 1 goal, Chloe Ponte assisted 1 goal, and Sara Laurent assisted 1 goal.

The Field Hockey Team had a victorious game against Classical with six different players putting shots on goal.  Jaylene Lanzot and Brienne Harter each had a defensive save. Goalkeeper Taylor Cote had 2 saves and a shutout, and Goalkeeper Natalie Wilson recorded 4 saves.

“This was a thrilling offensive win.  Jordan Lanowy earned the team’s anchor of the game with outstanding offensive play today,” said Coach Fairchild.

The Mariners return to play on Friday, October 12th.

 

10/2/18 – Varsity Field Hockey @ Woonsocket

Mariners Leave Woonsocket with a 0-0 Draw

  • The score remained 0-0 through 60 minutes of regulation plus a 10 minute sudden-death overtime.
  • Goalkeepers Taylor Cote and Natalie Wilson both posted shutouts.
  • Chole Ponte had a beautiful shot that almost won the game in the final minutes

    Despite unfortunate weather, the Field Hockey team played a compelling game against Woonsocket. With over 8 corners in the first half, the players had strong possession, shot numerous times at Woonsocket’s cage, and executed great lifts.

    “This was one of the most frustrating yet exciting games that we’ve played thus far. With over 10 players having shots on goal and dominating, we still ended the game in a 0-0 tie,” said Coach Fairchild. “We are excited for our next chance to put the ball in the cage!”

    The Field Hockey team will be playing a home game on Thursday, 10/4 against Classical.

9/29/18 – Varsity Field Hockey @ RIIL All-Star Game

Block, Schulte, and Weiner Represent Rocky Hill in RIIL All-Star Game

The Rocky Hill Varsity Field Hockey Team was proud to send three players to the AllStar game at Johnson and Wales University on September 29th. Elsa Block, Faythe Schulte, and Eve Weiner played tremendously with the other top players from teams across Rhode Island. Despite hard work and determination, the South team lost to the North team 1-0. Thank you to our fans who came to support our players! Elsa, Faythe, and Eve, we are proud of our allstars!
