Mariners win Back to Back SENEISAA Championships
- RHS 11, EHS 7
- Davis Lee – 5 goals
- Jake Watson & Kirk Webster standouts on D
For the third time in three games, the Mariners found themselves in a 3-0 hole to start a game. And for the third time, the Mariners came back to overcome their opponent, this time in the SENE final.
In a game full of excitement, penalties, and great hustle, Rocky Hill won its second straight SENE title on Friday, defeating Eagle Hill 11-7 behind a huge fourth quarter comeback. The Mariners were down 4-3 at half and 6-4 after three quarters before playing some of their best lacrosse of the season in the fourth quarter, scoring seven unanswered goals to build a five goal cushion with a few minutes left. Eagle Hill scored with just under two minutes left to close out the scoring.
Davis Lee scored five goals in the victorious effort, and freshman Kirk Webster had some massive saves down the stretch, finishing with eight on the day. Drew Tamburini had two goals, and Dylan Lehouiller, Nick McConnell, Peter Chen, and Jason DeGerlia all finished with one. The defensive group led by senior Jake Watson played outstanding as well after adjusting to a skilled and speedy Pioneer offense, weathering a torrent of penalties to hold Eagle Hill to just 4 goals in the last three quarters.
With the win, Rocky Hill moves to 10-1 on the season, including finishing a perfect 8-0 against SENE opponents. Great work, Mariners!
