12/1/19 – Girls Varsity Basketball @ Mariner Classic

Rocky Hill Claims Second Place in Mariner Classic

  • RHS 26, Fisher Island 22 in first game
  • RHS 15, Capital Prep Harbor 32 in championship match

With a new coach and a new squad, Girls Varsity Basketball had a strong showing in their home tournament.  In their first match up, they out-shot a competitive Fisher Island team.  However in the championship game, they faced a talented Capital Prep Harbor with height and a deep bench.  Kaeley Zito was the high scorer for Rocky Hill in each of the contests, with Johnette Williams playing strong in the center.

“This weekend was a great tune-up and we were able to see how we are coming along as a team,” commented Coach Tobey.  “Against Fishers Island, our young players showed a lot of poise and maintained a lead throughout the game.  In the Championship we competed well against an extremely athletic team.  We gave a great defensive effort in the first half, in the second half, Capital Prep used their strengths and their size advantage showed in the rebounding column.”
