Big Win for Rocky Hill at Home
- The 5-0 win was the Mariners’ third shutout of the season.
- Gutierrez and Monterroso led the attack with 3 and 4 points, respectively.
Rocky Hill got back on track on Friday afternoon, defeating Eagle Hill 5-0. Things started well right away as 20 seconds in a long cross from captain Andrew Zito got over the keepers head and found sophomore David Gutierrez, who slotted home for the early lead. The Mariners stayed in control from there, with sophomore Marlon Monterroso finding the back of the net next from a pass from freshmen Marshall Lind, and then Gutierrez latched on to an unfortunate back-pass and cooly finished to give RHS a 3-0 halftime lead. Monterroso struck again with a laser into the top corner from outside the 18 to make it four and senior captain Peter Chen scored his first of the season to cap off the victory.
“Peter has helped to solidify the Rocky Hill defense, today contributing to a third shut-out of the season. His partnership with his fellow CB has been great, as their communication and cover has been vital to the Mariner’s success. He also played a bit in the midfield today, hitting the cross bar on a free kick and then using his speed to get by the defense and score his first goal of the season,” said Coach Schatz.
Rocky Hill returns to the field Wednesday, October 3rd with a home match.
