Rocky Hill Drops Match at St. Andrews School
- Freshman Garret Corsi scored the lone Mariner goal of the match.
Rocky Hill gave St. Andrew’s a game for 70 minutes but fell apart at the end, leaving Barrington with a 6-1 loss that was both deceiving and deserved. The Saints controlled the first half through their pressing in the midfield and took the lead after about 10 minutes before adding another with about 5 minutes to go in the half. The Mariners came out much better in the second half, closing down space in the midfield and were able to generate some chances. They pulled back within one when a well-placed free-kick from sophomore Marlon Monterosso was headed home by freshmen Garret Corsi. The intensity of the game amped up until St. Andrew’s was able to regain their two goal advantage after Rocky Hill temporarily lost their captain Peter Chen to an injury . After that the damns broke and the Saints added three more goals in the final ten minutes as RHS’s intensity waned.
“Garrett has really impressed with how quickly he has adapted to the varsity high school game, adjusting to the speed and physicality more with every game,” said Coach Schatz.
Rocky Hill returns to action on Friday, September 28 at home vs. Eagle Hill School.
