Faculty Announcement

At every school, the end of the year marks a time for some farewell wishes, and it has been quite a while since the Middle School has had say goodbye to one of its own.  Sometimes, life just happens, and we have to embrace it and smile at all of the wonderful memories we have had together.  At the end of this school year, the Gower family will be moving west to experience the lake-effect snowstorms and perennially under-performing sports teams of Buffalo, NY.  We have been so fortunate to have had Sarah as a member of our RHS family, and we wish Abram, Justin and Sarah all the best as they begin writing the next chapter in the Gower Family Story.  They will always be a part of Rocky Hill School.

Fortunately for us, we have a highly skilled teacher already at Rocky Hill School who was hoping to one day move into the English department, and I am excited to announce that Charlotte Buecheler will be our 6th and 7th grade English teacher beginning in September.  Charlotte holds a Bachelor’s degree in Modern Literature from the Sorbonne Université in Paris and a Master’s Degree in Comparative Literature from Brown University. At Brown, she took her qualifying exams in English literature and was a graduate teaching assistant for several years, working on classes ranging all the way from Shakespeare surveys to modern American culture in The Wire.  Charlotte also began her time at Rocky Hill School as Sarah Gower’s long term substitute English teacher.  We look forward to a seamless transition and the continued growth and excellence of our English program in the years ahead.

Photos from the week…..

The tennis team after some fun with water balloons on the final day of spring tennis.

The Middle School faculty was treated to a “breakfast” lunch by the newly inducted 7th grade National Junior Honor Society students.

This year’s National Junior Honor Society held its induction ceremony on Wednesday night. The range and amount of community service shared at this ceremony was incredibly impressive.

The sixth grade class posed for a sunny picture during their hike at Tillinghast Pond on Monday.

Hiking near Tillinghast Pond in West Greenwich. When asked how the hike was, one of the students shared “there were a lot of ticks, and we had ice cream”.  They also had a most perfect day.
