Next Week’s News! 4/27/2018
Happy Friday!
What an exciting week this has been. Of the 16 eggs in our incubator, 12 hatched! We have 10 healthy chicks and 2 that were struggling were taken to be loved back to health by Penny and Ralston’s great Aunt Rhonda!
We will return the chicks to Casey Farm on Wednesday, May 2nd. We will leave RHS around 11:15 and have a picnic at the farm before our tour begins. All students need to bring a lunch and a water bottle. A hat and sunscreen would be wise also. Keep an eye on the weather and remember that it can be a little windy on the farm. Any parents who would like to go along, please let me know by Monday, April 30th, so I can plan accordingly. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate any siblings. Cost for this trip is $9.00 per person and will be added to your RHS bill.
Next week we add bugs to our list of creatures we’re getting to know. The books we’ll be reading will include:
“Ladybug at Orchard Avenue” Kathleen Weider Zoehfeld and Thomas Buchs
“Bugs for Lunch” by Margery Facklam and Sylvia Long
“Over in the Meadow” by Ezra Jack Keats
“Animals Don’t, so I Won’t!” by David Derick, Jr.
“Katrina the Beautiful Cockroach” by Carmen Agra Deedy and Michael Austin
Book orders are due next week. This is the last order before the summer break, so be sure to stock up for a summer of reading!
Our Virtuoso Schedule:
Tuesday: Science with Mr. Wyzga and Spanish with Señora
Wednesday: Music with Ms. Emily
Thursday: P.E. with Mrs. Wood
Friday: Library with Mrs. Silva
Who is going to the dance tonight?!? The kiddos are pretty excited!
Our class book if finished! If you would like a copy, please connect with Miss Amanda (ahovey@rockyhill.org). She will be sending orders in on Friday. Cost for this lovely hardcover is $40.00.
Garden Night is coming up on May 24th! Is there anyone who would like to arrange a posse of parents to help get our garden ready for planting?

Next Week’s News! 4/13/2018

“Bears” & “Baby Animals” by National Geographic Kids
“Whose Tail on the Trail at Grand Canyon?” by Midji Stephenson and Kenneth Spengler

Our Virtuosos next week:
Tuesday: Spanish with Señora
Wednesday: Music with Ms. Emily
Thursday: P.E. with Mrs Wood – don’t forget your sneakers
Friday: Library with Mrs. Silva – remember your Library Book!
12 Days until CHICKS!
Your child needs a coat. A sweatshirt or fleece on a nice day is a good idea. Our weather is so apt to change. It can start out beautiful and then be chilly and damp by recess, or the other way around. It’s fine to put the parkas away, but please be sure to send something warm, just in case.
We are, once again, having an issue with kindness. Please back me up in promoting taking a deep breath and always choosing the kindest option.
Ready to boogie? Our Lower School Spring Fling dance is coming up! Mark your calendars for Friday, April 27th! It promises to be a fun night!
