Next Week’s News! 3/29/2018

Hi everybody!

Happy Easter to you all!

Next week is an exciting week. We begin our study of farm life. The books we will be reading will include:
“Spring Things” by Bob Raczka and Judy Stead
“Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type” by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin
“Farm Animals” by Nancy Dickmann
“The Farm” by Alain Grée
“Dora’s Eggs” by Julie Sykes and Jane Chapman
“How Ducklings Grow” by Diane Molleson and Dwight Kuhn
On Wednesday, we will have a very special visitor from Casey Farms. This will kick off Project Chick! We will learn about local chickens and then be given some eggs to care for. We will incubate these eggs for 3 weeks until our chicks arrive! We will keep our chicks for about a week before we take them back to Casey Farms on our only field trip this year. So mark your calendars:
Wednesday, April 4: Case Farms (and eggs) arrive
Wednesday, April 25th: Hatching Day
Wednesday, May 2: Field Trip to Casey Farms
Our Virtuoso Schedule:
Tuesday: Science with Mr. Wyzga and Spanish with Señora
Wednesday: Music with Ms. Emily
Thursday: P.E. with Mrs. Wood (don’t forget your sneakers)
Friday: Library with Mrs. Silva (don’t forget your Library book)
Friday, April 6th is Harry Potter Day! Your child is invited to dress like her or his favorite HP character!
Everybody needs to bring in a white T-shirt we can paint! This activity is set for April 11th. If it’s a little big, it lasts longer.
We are tapping Maple Trees with Mr. Wyzga! Maybe a pancake day is in our near future!
Book orders are due Friday April 6th. You may order online if you prefer. Just got o www.scholastic.com and use our classroom code KP44F!
As we are learning about farms and their importance, let’s continue the conversation over snack! For snack time please pack, and encourage your child to try, food that has come from farms, or even better, local farms! You can pack veggies, eggs, fruit, cheese, etc.
Mark your calendars! Friday, April 27th is our Spring Fling! This totally fun Lower School dance takes place in the Campbell Center from 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Sign up for Parent/Teacher Conferences goes up next week. Please sign up for a time to chat about your amazing child!
Have you checked the blog lately? The new calendar has been posted along with some new pictures! http://blogs.rockyhill.org/bythebaypreschool/

Next Week’s News! 3/25/18

Welcome back!

I hope you all had a wonderful vacation and are ready to get back to school. Spring is on it’s way (or so they say)! Keeping that in mind, the books we’ll be ready will include:

“Splish, Splash, Spring” by Jan Carr and Dorothy Donahue

“My Spring Robin” by Anne, Harlow and Lizzie Rockwell
“People in Spring”, “Weather in Spring”, “Plants in Spring” by Martha E.H. Rustad and John D. Krenz
Our Virtuoso schedule this week is:
Monday: NO SCHOOL
Tuesday: Science with Mr. Wyzga and Spanish with Señora
Wednesday: Music with Ms. Emily
Friday: NO SCHOOL
Scholastic Book Orders will go out this week. Book Orders will be due Friday, April 6,2018.
The weather is changing daily. What you have at drop off is not necessarily what will be the rest of the day. Please keep that in mind when dressing your child for the day. Coats and maybe even hats and mittens may still be needed some days.
Have you checked your child’s extra clothes lately? Now’s the time! Chances are if you packed that bag awhile ago, they’ve already outgrown them!
Have all the quilt squares been returned? I’d love to put the quilt together in the coming days!
Rocky Hill will be closed on Friday, March 30th in honor of Good Friday.
Don’t forget to check out our blog! http://blogs.rockyhill.org/bythebaypreschool/
Enjoy the end of your vacation and I’ll see you Tuesday!

Next Week’s News!

Hi everybody!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend despite the awful weather. There are a few things to share in this last week before Spring Break.

Welcome to World Cultures Week! This week we will be learning all about The Philippines! Have anything to share? We’d love to have you!
Quilt squares have begun to arrive. Like all the other family projects, please brainstorm and make these together. You may use whatever you wish: fabric markers or paint, felt, ribbon, buttons, iron-on patches, fabric scraps. Be creative. I just ask that whatever you use is washable. When all the squares are returned, I will put them together into our 2017-2018 classroom quilt.
We will be closed for Spring Break March 12-26. We will return to school on Tuesday, March 27th. Are you traveling? Send us a postcard!
Please take all of your winter gear home by Friday. We are planning on NOT needing them when we return!
Don’t forget to check the blog: http://blogs.rockyhill.org/bythebaypreschool/
You’ll find pictures, newsletters and calendars there!
Have a great night and we’ll see you in the morning!
