Next Week’s News! 11/17/2017

Happy Friday!

As we head into the holiday season, we have so much to share. Please read carefully!
We will continue our Thanksgiving discussion next week. The books we will be reading will include:
“A Turkey for Thanksgiving” by Eve Bunting and Diane DeGroat
“Thanks for Thanksgiving” by Julie Markes and Doris Barrette
“The Very First Thanksgiving Day” by Rhonda Gowler Greene and Susan Gaber
Grandfirend’s Day is on Tuesday, November 21st. We are excited to be spending time with your child’s grandfriends! Dismissal will be at 11:00 a.m. If your child will not be leaving with their grandfriend, please let me know.
RHS will be closed from 11:00 a.m. on November 21st through Friday, November 24th in celebration of Thanksgiving. Have a wonderful holiday.
Cold season is upon us! In order for all of us to stay healthy, we ask that you monitor your child’s health very closely. Everyone’s nose runs, but if your child’s nose is running yellow or green, that’s a sign of illness. So is fever and diarrhea.  We do a LOT of hand washing here! Please do your part and keep your child at home if they are ill.
Over the next several weeks, we will be collecting donations for The Potter League for Animals in Middletown. This amazing shelter does really incredible work. Not only do they rescue animals, but they are also very involved in training, education and advocacy. If you want to visit them with your child, I encourage you to do so. But be aware…2 of my 3 pets are rescue pets from The Potter League! So how can your family help? Check out their wishlist!  http://www.potterleague.org/SupportthePotterLeague/WaystoGive/WishListandSupplies.aspx
Please purchase something from the list and bring it in after Thanksgiving. We will have a box under the Christmas tree to hold donations! Thank you in advance for helping to give back to our furry friends in need.
We are making a Holiday Card Center! Do you have any old cards and envelopes you can donate?
Coming in December! We will be starting a Gingerbread Man project. We will be reading The Gingerbread Man and then we will work with Chef Jay to bake our own Gingerbread Man. If our man should happen to run away, we are going to ask parents to reach out to friends and family all over the world to see if there have been any Gingerbread Man sightings! Watch for more to come…
Are you traveling over the holidays? Please don’t forget to send us a postcard! We will mark on the map where our students (and our Gingerbread Man) have been!
We are collecting clean glass jars with covers in all sizes. If you are ready to recycle some, please send them in. All sizes are welcome.
Thanks to all who voted for me at BroadwayWorld! I am currently in second place!
Don’t forget to check out or blog! http://blogs.rockyhill.org/bythebaypreschool/
Have a blessed holiday. I am so thankful for all of you!

Next Week’s News! 11/3/17

Hi all!

Hard to believe that it’s Friday (and November) already. I hope that by now all of you have had your power restored and life is getting back to its normal chaos.
We continue our look at leaves next week. The books we will be reading will include:
“We’re Going in a Leaf Hunt” by Steve Metzger and Miki Sakamoto
“My Leaf Book” by Monica Wellington
“There was an old Lady who Swallowed Some Leaves” by Lucille Colandro and Jared Lee
“My Autumn Book” by Wong Herbert Lee
There will be no school on Friday, November 10, in honor of Veteran’s Day.
Do we have everybody’s information for Grandfriend’s Day? We want to make sure nobody gets left out! Remember that it is an early dismissal that day (the Tuesday before Thanksgiving).
Book orders went home yesterday. These are the last book orders before Christmas break. All orders, in person and online, are due by November 17th. When they arrive they will be bagged up in case they contain gifts. I put several flyers together to make sure you have a wide range of books to choose from for all the young readers on your list. Our class online code is KP44F. Please let me know if you have any questions.
If you haven’t checked the blog lately, don’t forget that most of the information you need can be found there. http://blogs.rockyhill.org/bythebaypreschool/
The family project for November went home this week. Please disguise Mr. Turkey as part of your family so he doesn’t get eaten for Thanksgiving dinner! Bring him or her in for your child to share whenever they are ready.
The cooler weather may be upon us soon (hopefully). Please check the clothes in your child’s bag and make sure they still fit and are seasonally appropriate.
Looking for something fun for grown-ups this weekend? Come and see me in Chicago! I have attached the information. It’s a great show. Hope to see you there!
Preschool Quote of the Day:
R: “Miss Lisa look! There’s a blue jay in the feeder!”
O: “That’s not a blue jay. It’s a pink jay!”
Virtuoso Schedule for next week:
Tuesday: Science with Mr. Wyzga and Spanish with Senora
Wednesday: Music with Ms. Emily
Thursday: P.E. with Mrs. Wood – please wear or bring sneakers
Friday: CLOSED
Have a great weekend and I’ll see you on Monday!
🙂
