Next Week’s News! 4/28/17
Hi all!
We have had a wonderful week! We’ve hatched 14 chicks, said “goodbye” to RHS seniors and now the sun is shining!
Next week we take a brief look at Dinosaurs. The books we will be reading will include:
“Little Kids First Big Book of Dinosaurs” by Catherine D. Hughes and Franco Tempesta
“If the Dinosaurs Came Back” by Bernard Most
“Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs” by Byron Barton
“Dinosaurs!” by Gail Gibbons
If your child would like to bring in a stuffed dinosaur to share, that would be great! Please do not bring any other toys to school other than nap toys or those asked for. We would all feel terrible if something happened to a favorite toy.
Tuesday is our Field Trip to Casey Farms. We will leave Rocky Hill around 11:20 and return by 3:00. Some of you have expressed interest in chaperoning the trip. We would love that, however, because of the nature of this trip, there are no siblings allowed. We made “farm animal” t-shirts to wear to the farm. Weather permitting we ask that you send your child in a long sleeved shirt and jeans with sneakers or boots. We will put their t-shirts on over their long sleeved shirt. We also ask for sunscreen and a hat.
The final book order of the school year is due by Wednesday, May 10th.
Mark your calendars for Garden Night! Tuesday, May 16th we will meet together in the playground for a cookout and garden planting party. What can you do? We are looking for some volunteers to get our small garden ready for planting. We will put up a list of plants we’d like to have. We will have a sign up sheet for dinner. Please sign up for something and help make this fun event memorable! Finally, on the 16th, bring your plants, your dinner contribution, your gardening gloves, your children and your sense of humor! It will be a wonderful night!

Don’t forget the sunscreen for your child’s cubbie!

Next Week’s News! 4/23/2017
Hi all!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend and were able to get out and enjoy the beautiful day today! As we get ready for our chicks to hatch on Tuesday, we will continue our study of animals. We were going to move on to desert animals, but we have been having so much fun with the ocean, we are going to remain “Under the Sea”.
It looks like the Spring Fling was a wonderful evening! Hope you all had a great time! Share your pictures please!
Thank you all for returning your quilt squares. If you have not returned yours yet, please get it in to me as soon as you can. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
Our Preschool Garden Night is coming up on May 16th. On that evening, we will get together after school for hamburgers, hotdogs and a night of gardening fun! Before we get there, we need some volunteers to get us organized. Don’t worry. I will help! If you have a green thumb (or even if you don’t), please consider helping put together our garden.
Are you signed up for Dinner-x-Change? How is it going? Are you enjoying the gabs (when I remember to add them)? Please let me know your thoughts.
Our virtuoso schedule this week is:
Monday – PE with Mrs. Wood (sneakers please!)
Tuesday – Spanish with Senora
Wednesday – Music with Miss Emily and Science in Mr. Wyzga’s roo
Thursday – Library with Mrs. Silva (don’t forget your book)
Friday – Music with Miss Emily
This week we say goodbye to our seniors as they head off to their internships. On Friday, our students from Preschool-Grade 2 will escort the seniors in to their last all school assembly. Then we will serenade them before we send them on their way!
What are you packing your child for snack? Please be careful not to overload them! We eat snack between 9:30 and 10:00. They have a tendency to feel like they should eat everything in their lunchbox. Then we have an early lunch at 11:40 and often times, they are not hungry. If you want to pack an extra snack for afternoon, just let us know. We’ll make sure to help your child make choices rather than feel like they have to eat it all.
All students need a white t-shirt to paint on Friday.

As the weather gets warmer, please make sure your child has seasonally appropriate clothing. Also, please check for size. We have all grown so much!
Is you child wearing sunscreen when they arrive at school? Please make sure they are protected from sunburn. Leave a bottle in their cubby and we will reapply when we go outside.
Are you going to the Gala? It is such a fun event. I hope to see you there!
Have a great night and I’ll see you in the morning!

An important message from Nurse Margo:

Also, if your child had an ear infection, drainage, or tubes in the past 8 weeks, please complete the form. A completed form is given to the nurse.

By any chance does anyone need a fish tank? A friend of one of our families has one that is new with gravel, filter, plants, food, water conditioner, slime coat, ph balancer, water test kits, fungus treatment. Its a 10 gal tank no lid. Let me know!

We will be closed next Friday, April 14th in honor of Good Friday.
Are you looking for something to contribute to our classroom? Check out our tree in the cubbie room. Remove an apple that has something we need written on it and bring it on in! We are so appreciative of your support.
