Next Week’s News! 03/31/2017
Hi everyone. Welcome back!
We had a really smooth transition back to school and we have lots to share, so read on!
On Monday, we welcome Owen Sadler and his parents, Stephanie and Justin, to our Rocky Hill Family. Owen will be joining our preK group!
Next week we begin a month long study of animals and their habitats. Since it’s time for Project Chick to begin, we’ll start with farm animals. The books we’ll be reading will include:
“Jobs on a Farm” and “Farm Animals” by Nancy Dickmann
“Dora’s Eggs” by Julie Sykes and Jane Chapman
“On the Farm” by David Elliott and Holly Meade
“The Farm” by Alain Gree
If your child has a stuffed farm animal they’d like to bring in and share for the week, they are welcome to do so.
On Tuesday we welcome Casey Farms and Project Chick! Each spring Casey Farms comes to visit with lots of great information on chickens and eggs. They leave us an incubator and some eggs. After 21 days, our eggs begin to hatch! They will arrive on Tuesday, April 4th, so hatching day is Tuesday, April 25th. Mark your calendars!
Speaking of calendars, I have attached them to this email for your convenience. You can find our calendars, newsletters and lots of other great information and photos on our blog: http://blogs.rockyhill.org/bythebaypreschool/
I am also attaching a letter about Dinner-X-Change. We are excited to pilot this new program, which acts as an electronic Love Note. You download the app and check it nightly. You will find “GABs”, which are conversation starters for you and your children. I encourage you all to sign up and give it a try.
Have you finished your quilt square? Bring it in! I can’t wait to put them all together into our Classroom Quilt. It will hang in our classroom until Garden Night, when it will go home with one lucky family. If you need supplies to finish please don’t hesitate to ask!
I’m going out on a limb (with snow predicted for this afternoon) and asking everyone to take home their winter gear. Please just keep ad eye on the weather each day, since we all know how it can change without much notice!
Our Virtuoso Schedule next week:
Monday – PE with Mrs. Wood (don’t forget your sneakers)
Tuesday – Spanish with Senora
Wednesday – Science with Mr. Wyzga and Music with Ms. Emily
Thursday – Library with Mrs. Silva

Next Week’s News! 3/5/2017
Hi everybody!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend despite the chilly weather. There are a few things to share in this last week before Spring Break.
A HUGE congratulations to the Ajaj family! Penny’s baby brother Quinton made his way into the world on March 1, 2017 at 12:13pm. He was 9 pounds 3 ounces and 21 inches long. We can’t wait to meet him!
Welcome to World Cultures Week! This week we will be learning all about India! We will begin each morning with Yoga in the gymnasium for all Lower School Students! So bring your yoga mat and we’ll head to the gym from 8:30-9:00. If you arrive during this time, please join us.
I have sent home quilt squares. Like all the other family projects, please brainstorm and make these together. You may use whatever you wish: fabric markers or paint, felt, ribbon, buttons, iron-on patches, fabric scraps. Be creative. I just ask that whatever you use is washable. When all the squares are returned, I will put them together into our 2016-2017 classroom quilt.
We will be closed for Spring Break March 13-27. We will return to school on Tuesday, March 28th. Are you traveling? Send us a postcard!
Please take all of your winter gear home by Friday. We are planning on NOT needing them when we return!

Thank you! Thank you to all of you who donated to our Housekeeping center. We are LOVING it all! We are still looking for some colorful floor pillows. If you have any lying around, please bring them in and help cozy up our book area.
Don’t forget to check the blog: http://blogs.rockyhill.org/bythebaypreschool/
You’ll find pictures, newsletters and calendars there!
When we return from break, we’d like each child to bring in a plastic Voss water bottle. Each student will be making their own glitter jar!
Have a great night and we’ll see you in the morning!
🙂
