Next Week’s News! 10/21/2016
Happy rainy Friday!
How did we get to the end of October so quickly? We will take a look at Halloween this coming week. The books we will be reading will include:
“Little Goblins Ten” by Pamela Jane and Jane Manning
“There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bat!” by Lucille Colandro ad Jared Lee
“Big Pumpkin” by Erica Silverman and S. D. Schindler
“The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid Of Anything” by Linda Williams and Megan LLoyd
“Room on the Broom” by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler
On Monday, the parents traditionally decorate our classroom when we are at PE in the gym. If you would like to help make the magic happen, please contact Allison Kettlety. allikettlety@gmail.com
On Friday, October 28th, we will celebrate Halloween. We start with a costume parade around campus and then off to Mrs. Wood’s amazing Healthy Haunted House (she’s still looking for volunteers). After lunch we parade with the whole Lower School. Please send your child to school already in costume. Amanda and I will make sure they are changed out of it before the Healthy Haunted House.
Tuesday is our 4th Annual Preschool Pumpkin Carving Night! We will gather in the preschool at 5:30, enjoy dinner together and carve our pumpkins. It is a wonderful night for all of our little goblins! We promise to have you out the door by 7:00 so everyone can get a good night’s sleep. As a reminder the following people have signed up to bring these items for dinner:
2 large pizzas:
Raina
Alexandra
Sofia
Justine
Case of Small water bottles:
Alyson
Veggies and Dip:
Alyson
Dessert:
Suzanne
Paper Goods and Glow Sticks:
Allison
If you have not had a chance to sign up but would like to contribute, we could always use more veggies or fruit! It looks like it’s going to be clear and chilly! Bundle up!
I put the November Book Order in your child’s cubby. November is a short month so if you want holiday books, I’d like to get them ordered early. Also, each order form has a coupon good for $5 of free books with a $10 purchase. These coupons expire on October 31st so I wanted to get them out to you ASAP. You can either fill out the order form and get it back to me before the 31st with a check made out to Scholastic, or you can order online using the code KP44F.
Please be very careful to park in designated parking spots only. If you have any questions about parking, just let me know. Faculty and staff are assigned parking spaces. If someone is in their space, it sets off a little parking craziness.
Clifford’s My Big World is the name of our classroom magazine from Scholastic. You can access the support materials (games, short videos, etc.) by going to http://clifford.scholastic.com/ Our username is: Miss Lisa’s Class. The password is ByTheBay2016
Do you know anyone who would benefit from a RHS education? Send them to our Admissions Open House this Sunday the 23rd from 1:00 – 3:00!

Please please check your child’s blue RHS bag on their hook and make sure it has seasonally appropriate extra clothing (including shoes). There’s nothing worse than having a huge juice spill on a cold November day and pulling out shorts and a tee shirt that are too small!

Have a great weekend and I’ll see you on Monday!

On October 28th, we will have our annual Halloween Parade. You may send your child to school in their costume. At 10:00 we will take our parade on a tour of the campus, ending up in Hopelands (where we can usually find a treat). Please send something for your child to change into after the celebration. We would hate for any costume to get dirty, torn or lose pieces. For those students saying for a full day, we will join up with the Lower School after lunch for a little celebration.
Do you know of a student who would benefit from a Rocky Hill education? Send them along to our Admissions Open House. On Sunday, October 23rd, we will be open from 1:00-3:00. For more information please visit our website:
